So what tests would you do?
3:15
So m-much of travelers' diarrhea, uh, occurs during the trip abroad, and travelers may not have access to healthcare, so m-many cases of travelers' diarrhea do not have laboratory testing.
3:32
Now, if a traveler comes to you with diarrhea, there are several laboratory tests that are, that I would recommend and would consider.
3:43
One is stool testing for pathogens, and that can be done by historically stool culture to identify the causative bacteria as well, and the advantage of stool culture is that you would then also have information about antibiotic susceptibilities.
4:02
More recently, multi-pathogen, multiplex PCR panels, molecular panels have been made available for stool testing, and th-they have a much faster turnaround time, but at the expense of not being able to result antimicrobial susceptibilities.
4:25
And so one potential solution to that is to pair a multiplex testing with stool culture so that you can get both fast identification, prompt identification, and antibiotic susceptibilities a few days later.
4:41
I, I would also, though, need to note that not everybody needs to be tested.

And any other questions more generally, I wonder?
