So mission work versus what Reverend eBay would have been, what did the mission work primarily focus on? You know, are you trying to expand the church or just help establish the church?
7:20
Right.
7:21
Yeah, I would say that a couple of things.
7:23
One is, at first, the Berean Protestant Reformed Church was already established when we arrived, when Reverend Smith arrived.
7:30
That was a fruit of the mission work of Reverend Spring Smith from 2002 to 2007.
7:38
So we were coming into a field where there was already an established congregation.
7:44
Our purpose was to work with contacts that the Bereans had and other contacts that we were aware of to develop them into becoming established as Reformed churches.

um today we're going to talk a bit more about the call to the philippines as well as the move there and uh adjustment to life in a completely different yeah society and culture um so reverend klein when did you first take the call to be the missionary to the philippines and how was it made clear to you by god that that was a call you had to take
0:44
yeah you know um just a little background to that As I was studying for the ministry, and then when I was first in the ministry in the PRCA, I had already given some thought to being a missionary, doing mission work.
1:03
Others had commented to me about that possibility as well.
1:10
The thought of doing mission work was not a brand new idea when I received the call.
1:16
Working on the Foreign Mission Committee contributed to that as well.
1:20
And I worked on the Foreign Mission Committee for seven years when I was first in the ministry in Edgerton, Minnesota from 1998 to 2005.
1:29
I was a member of the Foreign Mission Committee.

So growing up in Tasmania, what schools would you have attended there?
2:10
I attended quite a few schools.
2:12
We've moved around a bit.
2:14
My father was involved in construction work along with Michael's father.
2:19
They worked together as a team in constructing sheds for farmers mostly, and they also moved around a bit.
2:29
We ended up living on two different farms in different parts of northwest Tasmania, close to the city of Burney and also at the city of Wynyard.
2:41
So as a result of that, I went to Sisters Creek Primary School for grades one and two.

What about the background of our mission work in the Philippines? What can you tell us about that a bit?
