So are there any general rules or guidelines that people should keep in mind when they're traveling? Yes.

The first thing is to plan ahead.

If you're able to, nowadays it's a lot easier than it used to be.

You can use internet, Google, AI to plan a route, wherever you want to go, where you can get kosher food.

And even when you are going to take an Airbnb in the middle of the woods, you can stock up on whatever you need.

In terms of food, there's unlikely to be an issue of finding kosher food.

Yeah, I have made black and white, what we call environmental portraits of 500 people in 30 countries over the last 26 years.

And about a year into it, I started videoing the interviews.

And I've only published about 180 of the 500.

Let's say about 375 have publishable video interviews.

And for each person, I identify a quote, which you'd expect.

And then I write a reflection about what got provoked in me by interviewing this person and that can be anything from what are the spiritual issues of homelessness how do we heal shame a variety of topics i should mention the other questions that i ask after that theological one what does it mean for you to have faith and what's your earliest memory of having faith what was the first time in your life you feel like you had to or chose to rely upon god as you understand god tell me about a time you doubted your faith What are you most grateful for? What's your greatest wish? Do you have a message? And what would you like people to know about you when they see your portrait? So I try to get at people's experience, which, you know, kind of like feelings.

That's the challenge that we're faced in our whole culture right now.

I grew up Jewish in Atlanta, Georgia, in the South, in the 70s.

And so I felt very much like the other.

But over time, as I grew, particularly into my teens and 20s, I also felt called to bring people together.

So this dichotomy of feeling like the other, feeling called to bring people together is kind of my history.

So when I got into photography, it wasn't a big surprise.

I was at a photography workshop in 2001, and you had one of these workshops where you had to come up with an idea and start shooting.
