Does it seem like, and I know this is very early in the tournament, that the U.S. is accomplishing this? Or is it kind of the U.S.'s desire to be seen as much more international, considering some of the issues they've been facing? Is it being undermined?

I think Nick did a great job of outlining your typical goals with hosting a mega event.

And to a great degree, I think the United States has the we're still here message that it's putting out.

There's also a secondary message of we're going to play in the sandbox well with everybody else, because the United States has been dominant financially and in many other respects globally has been a dominant power, has asserted its power in the war with Iran.

And so we have this perception that we are separated out and we are playing the role of the one last true mega power.

But there's also, when you bring together three countries, the United States didn't need Mexico and Canada in order to put on the World Cup, it could have put it on all itself.

And other countries, like say the DRC, trying to use it as a way to remind us that we are more than just an Ebola outbreak.
