Mm-hmm

... beautiful space using just what you have and reimagining it a little bit.

But one thing, um, it all comes down to making a plan, Monica.

And knowing when you have, for example, the room you're working on, and you know what purpose you have for that room, what you want the room to do for you, and deciding too, the things that you already have in it, are they helping with that purpose or are they fighting against it? So what needs to be removed, basically.

And then deciding, okay, what kind of things might I need in order to have this room function for me and my family the way I need it to? That is pivotal, and that's all part of planning.

But a lot of times we get so excited because maybe we've figured out, okay, I like brass, I like pom-poms, I'm ready to rock and roll.
36:43
But we really still need to dive into what do I want the room to do? How is the stuff I have helping that or hurting it, and what do I need to do next? And I do believe that now here's where those things come in that we hear from other designers, or we hear from YouTube or Instagram, and it's you have to pick the rug first.
