Um, so this is done by Dan Trachtenberg who, um, I kind of want to make the comparison, except Star Wars didn't commit.

But you know, like, Dave Filoni, like, everyone's like, oh, this dude didn't create, but, like, he should probably be in charge, what he does.

Like, he kind of, like, knows all the details and everything, and, like, people just come to him.

Predator at all.

I saw Dan Trachtenberg wanted to name the movie Yelcha Badlands.

And they're like, fuck off.

Their pitch was, and this is for Predator Prey.

So Dan Trachtenberg made an awesome film.

I love that film.

But well before, I've been working on this for six years now, well before that movie came out, like, hey, what basically their pitch was, So Rogers Rangers meets Predator.

Then Prey, the one that went straight to streaming.

That was the same writer-director, Dan Trachtenberg.

And then this one, Predator Badlands.

There was this fan grown sentiment that you were talking about, which is why does the predator always get his ass kicked? If he's supposedly a serious, unstoppable hunter, how does he keep losing? So he was trying to figure out how to take that.

So it's really going to come down to

your IP and your director.

Sometimes you've said all you needed to say with your first film, and it's been the law of diminishing returns ever since.

Time for new blood, like Trachtenberg with the Predator franchise or Fede with the Alien franchise to a lesser extent.

And he said, I would argue that not everything is a franchise.

They made their statement.

I said, I think four installments of an animated film makes it a franchise.

But I do agree that I don't see the point of continuing it unless you're going to match what the original did and rock our minds and our souls.

So I get that there are people who think that Wachowskis need to be consulted with this stuff or need to be heard from in order to move on to the next thing but I would argue once you do multiple bad installments your input is no longer needed your transaction has been completed and new people need to come in new blood needs to come in that that understand how to honor the bones of the franchise but have the freedom to create new things within it as we saw as I mentioned there as we saw with Dan Trachtenberg with predator mean he's not going to john mctiernan hey man this is what i'm doing with predator is it okay with you you know like you got to let creators create and you got to let them have the freedom to create and i think this idea of needing to get blessings from the people who did it before is a little bit crazy to me because i you know what are they going to tell you what are they going to prove that you you know uh that you are going to do that you uh Like, I just don't understand, because they might give you the wrong instinct.

They might steer you away from something that you want to do that would have really been amazing.

I'm a really big fan of Dan Trachtenberg and what he's doing with this franchise.

I think Predator, when we talk about reboots, we talk about sequels, it has like a bad stigma to it.

But this is one that's done right.
