I'm assuming for you, it's the characters that can keep you coming back to this one and why this one is so special.
19:02
Yeah, and I think it's just a different era of movie back then where as far as you're talking about the pacing, when I was watching it this time, for some reason the first thing that came to mind was – Batman versus Superman dawn of justice and how they just throw so many things in there.
19:20
And this is the complete opposite of that.
19:22
And it just reminds me of how different movies were.
19:25
I mean, you're not watching it on streaming when you are now, but you know, back in the fifties, you're not watching on stream.
19:30
You can go into the theater, spending, spending time there and they want you to spend time there and have this slower movie.
19:38
So I think being an action movie is, now versus being an action movie in the 1950s, two very, very different things that I still think this has some action to it, but it's not the most action in a John Wayne movie, that's for sure

What do you think puts this in that upper echelon of Westerns, Dan, which separates this from so many of the era?

Is adding video to your podcast the reason your podcast fails? I've been podcasting since 2015, and the whole concept of pod fading has been around for pretty much that whole time.
0:44
What's changed was the number of episodes the average podcast would last before they faded away.
0:49
Maybe it was five episodes, maybe it was 10 or seven.
0:52
Even though these specific numbers can bounce around, one of the tricky things about pod fading by its very nature is if a podcaster is not interested in doing a show anymore, it's really hard to know why they stopped.
1:02
But over the years that I started with a company branded podcast, and then my own podcast has become my full-time job now, the most consistent thing that I've seen as the cause for pod fade is the same thing: burnout.
1:15
Creating podcasts is just a lot of work, and recently I've seen more and more podcasters feeling the pressure to create video.
45:37
Next up, if you love history and you love movies, you gotta check out Based on a True Story podcast by my buddy Dan LeFebvre.
45:45
Hi, Dave.
45:46
Dan here from Based on a True Story.
45:48
Outside of downloads, there are two key ways that I measure the success of my podcast, and the first one boils down to simply a yes or no question: Am I excited to work on the next episode? The answer is yes.
45:59
It's a success [laughs].
46:01
And in my case, each episode is about a different movie or TV show, so the only time I've really said no to whether or not I'm excited about an episode is if the movie or TV show is not interesting to me.
46:13
In most cases, though, I find that once I start working on that, it changes, and even if the movie or TV show is not really one that I'm interested in, we all have movies or TV shows we don't really like, I'm no different, but I usually am still fascinated by the true story behind the movie, even if the movie itself is not that interesting.
47:45
I'm interviewing, I've been secretly interviewing my aunt who's 99, and it's just pure gold.

How to pitch a podcast.
0:48
Dan here from Based on a True Story, the podcast that compares your favorite movies and TV shows with history.
0:54
Like most podcasters, we get a lot of pitches.
0:56
I'm sure it's hard to pick just one bad pitch to share.
1:00
But the first one that comes to mind is actually from one company.
1:03
A couple months ago, all of a sudden, I started getting flooded with pitches from the same company.
3:34
Hi, Dan.
