UCare was looking to diversify and not just be tied to one state or one region, but expand elsewhere.

And there is a lot of resources, time, and sophistication that's needed to expand into other states, whether it's Medicaid or other lines of business.

And that's really hard for, um, regional plans to kind of scale up and be able to do that efficiently.

Um, a- as well as just overall managing a book of business, um, during what the industry has seen on the health insurance side of really high volume, um, high cost of care, um, uh, a lot of things coming out of, um, the pandemic and, you know, emerging trends and skyrocketing MLRs, et cetera.
