So what do you think people should do to ready themselves for that time? And what is the right time?
22:49
Well, I think it's different for everyone.
22:50
It might be a little later than you're hoping, depending on your financial situation.
22:54
But also what I think a lot of people don't realize is that retirement is a mindset shift.
23:01
It's completely different for a lot of people.
23:04
It's a completely different setup.
23:05
I'm going to be facing this myself in a couple of years where I'm used to working and saving and working hard and building up my business and so forth.
27:16
Can you talk a little bit about how in your practice you've been fine tuning this withdrawal rate?
11:20
How do you see, you know, those collection of four hugely important people in your life, how do you see that as, you know, kind of what's helped you build your, who you are today?
11:36
Well, they definitely have, all four of them.
11:38
I think you're right in that a lot of men don't develop those relationships.
11:43
You know, women are so much better at, you know, developing friendships and things, and men are mostly just kinda tunnel vision.
11:50
Especially if you're s- you're successful at what you're doing, you kind of just put your head down and go.
11:56
And to some extent I did do that.
11:58
I'm guilty of that myself.
15:39
Before we get into some of the issues of those six decisions, why'd you write this book? Why was this important for you now?
17:49
Right.
17:49
Everyone focuses on the money, like you said.
17:51
So, "Can I retire when..." You know, if you get that question from someone, they're, they're most likely asking, "Can I afford to retire?" But then I wanted to, like, in the book, I wanted to, to write about, well, you know, it's not just can you afford to retire, there's also all this psychology around Is this the right time for you? What are you gonna do about handling, um, you know, when you're not working anymore? Do you, do you phase into it? Do you just go cold turkey and, and retire? You know, is your body...
18:24
Like if you have a, a physical laboring type of job, maybe your body's just not holding up anymore.
18:30
But for a lot of people, they're working with their mind, and they can phase out.
18:34
They can, you know, retire not all at once.
18:37
I recommend in that in the book.
