Dave ThomasCORRESPONDENT
43:10
Dan Clark, I can't let you go without asking, which is the bigger rivalry you'll be paying attention to today? The Riders and the Bombers, or your nephew Jaden Zeljanka at quarterback for the Regina Thunder taking on the Hilltops?
43:23
I'm probably, I'm going to be neutral in situations I represent both, but You know what? I'm very proud of my nephew.
43:32
I think I'm not your typical uncle.
43:35
I always ask him three positives, three negatives after every game.
43:38
I don't care on how many yards you throw for.
43:40
I don't care your percentage.
43:41
What I want to know is what you need to work on.
46:56
What's the first memory that comes flooding back when you think about that day? I
16:06
Can you speak to that?
16:07
Yeah, so you're well on your way of already figuring out some stuff.
16:12
So lyrics, it's all about your mind and what it's doing.
16:16
So on a deeper level that is maybe less science, it's a higher abstraction, is that your brain is always trying to reach homeostasis, right? But the main effort of the brain is to protect you, right? So, you know, our brains evolved for the 100,000 years ago we were as humans.
16:36
And now we're today where we're expected to plug in and plug out.
16:39
And our brains and bodies aren't designed to do that.
16:43
So what's happening is when we're trying to work and we have those thoughts of, did I leave the stove on? What did this person mean when they said that? You know, all of these things, it's because we're trying to protect ourselves, right? And when you reach this flow state, what's happening is, I'm sure you've experienced it, is things become effortless and you don't have these things that invade your psyche or your space, you're just doing.

14 MINS LATER

30:56
So how does that differ or how is Brain.fm better or different than those solutions out there?
17:56
like the pregame parties in the old practice field before, like those things, the atmosphere of this week, and for maybe the players driving around, does it get the players amped up seeing it on a Saturday night when they might be going out for dinner or something?
18:10
Yeah, absolutely.
18:11
It's something that I look at that rivalry in high school or college, and it's one of those ones where you can lose any other game, but you don't lose this one.
18:20
And that atmosphere for guys that have never been in, it's electric looking at their faces when they run out on Labor Day and see the sea of green and maybe the specks of blue.
18:30
And it's one of those ones that it creates a memory in their lifetime forever.
18:35
I even see Shaq Evans still posting about his first Labor Day the other day.
18:39
So it's one of those ones where guys have that opportunity to show what they can.
20:45
What did you think of the second half last week as they get ready for the Bombers this
33:37
When it comes to education, education, education, is that the case at the moment? Is that something that you've, was that in part of the plans moving forward with the opening of the school? Or is that something that's happened recently where people just don't want to travel for too long to get to school?
33:52
I've met just about every family that we've enrolled over the course of the last six months and they often will say to me we're looking for the school first housing second when they're arriving from the UK very common because people don't want to be stuck in traffic for context I've worked in boarding for about 20 years and so my maximum commute has been about 100 yards so I definitely share that view you know I actually don't much care for the car journey in the morning so I can definitely sympathize with parents and part of our philosophy has been to try and support parents in consolidating around the school.
34:21
So we have lots happening before school, after school in terms of clubs and activities to mean that parents can do as much as they can at Sports City.
34:29
We're also blessed to be surrounded by ISD near us, incredible sports facilities.
34:34
So there's a lot happening around that part of town and we love where we are.
RoryHOST
36:41
I mean, was that was that necessary to bring people in the door? Or were they sort of on board already?
36:46
Actually, two things about that.
36:47
We have got a really, I think, unique setup for our finding families that discounts held for the whole time that the child's in the school, so not for a limited period.
12:49
Now, walk me through the Youth to Lead
12:52
program.
12:53
What were your students trying to do? The first part of it was they decided on a problem to solve.
12:59
We're here in St. Louis, Missouri, and one of the problems that my students wanted to solve was that St. Louis nationally has kind of a bad reputation.
13:08
Anytime you see St. Louis on the news, a lot of times it's about crime.
13:12
It's about things happening in our downtown area, which is not the best.
13:16
It's about the tornado we had last year and the not great response to that.

6 MINS LATER

19:36
Do any of these get at the real problem in your opinion?
8:28
Wickham start it's been difficult in terms of results like is it simply a new look squad taking time to come together or are you seeing some of the same problems that frustrated supporters last season
8:39
No, we haven't had many wholesale changes, to be honest.
8:43
We've kept the core of the squad.
8:45
And when Duff came in initially in September, we started to kind of push up the table a bit.
8:51
There was a bit of a potential surge towards playoffs towards the end.
8:56
But I think we just, as we say, we fell short and kind of things fell away.
9:00
We've kind of continued that form into this season, really, which is a bit of a shame.

7 MINS LATER

16:30
And what can we expect? How close are they to playing the tactics he wants? And, you know, what are we seeing on the pitch?
38:53
What about it?
38:56
Well, we've been long looking for an attacking force, really, since Kona left QPR last season.
39:04
So, yeah, we brought in Nathan Lowe from Stoke towards the back end of last season.
39:10
We had Corley Woodrow in as well, who's coming on permanent for us now.
39:14
But we've brought Malik Mullasil, who seemed to do really, really well at Peterborough, but then I don't think he seemed to have had a good season at Stockport.
39:23
And I don't know whether that's because his commute is extra long and he's not really kind of fancied it.
39:29
He's back down here now.
40:57
yeah it sounds like it sounds like a hell of a move and it's not like you're surrounded by bad clubs in your your part of the country is it either now uh dan this is your sixth season in league one in a row seasoned veterans at this point how do you make the transition into becoming a championship side what are you missing
31:09
Yeah.
31:09
But, uh, a- and, and I think that is one of the true values of academics, um, and, and, and pursuing a degree is being able to walk away with a toolkit to view the world differently and apply frameworks differently.
31:23
And so I- in every class, um, I'm, I'm using different tools and different frameworks.
31:29
And so in particular, um, when we're looking at, say, um, the career p- prep class, uh, the focus is very intentional, and it's very focused on the exploration part.
31:40
And actually, it's focused on the career search perspective.
31:45
And when you're searching for a job and when you're a second year or third year of an un- undergrad, there's a lot of unknowns, and there's a lot of, um, noise when it comes to advice on how to, to pursue your life.
31:57
And so the framework that, uh, not only do we implement in the Career Management Center but also in this 250 class is exploration, connection, application.
34:34
So I wanna start out by having you kind of describe to our audience what Navigating Knowledge is, uh, when it was first released, and how it's used now.
39:46
And I don't like that idea.
39:48
I've sat in meeting rooms and had coaches tell me, well, this is what you need to do.
39:53
And my exact answer is, well, it's easy when you have a cowboy in your hand.
39:57
To everybody at home, cowboy is kind of like a mouse.
39:59
It's got your slow down, your play button, everything like that.
40:01
It's got a laser pointer.
40:03
It's cool to point it at the board.

9 MINS LATER

48:55
And he's going to be criticized by people who can't kick a 10-yard field goal are going to be mad that he can't kick a 47-yard field goal.
29:28
Just amazing.
29:29
And let's be honest, Edmonton's O-line isn't like nothing either.
29:33
That's a good group that they've put in time into.
29:36
And, you know, Sorrells have love for Sorrells, but he's putting that group together and they're working.
29:41
But when you have a person like that, you, I flash back to the 13 rider O line.
29:46
Like you can put almost anybody back there to run, but having a guy like sheets who's patients and can hit the hole or completely, Hey, stay away from the B gap front side.
29:54
Nope.
30:51
Oh, yeah.
4:35
Are you surprised about that one, that they went with Della Gala ahead of Ford, Dan?
4:39
I think you look at the way the structure was with Hamilton last year.
4:41
You got to give the guy that's second up as an opportunity.
4:44
If you don't, there's no point of having a depth chart at that point.
4:47
You know what, Trey Ford is a very talented individual and looking what he can do with his legs and make defenses like really one facet of the game.
4:54
You got to put one person to watch, one man.
4:56
Everybody else is going to kind of find open if they're going to play zone or not.

13 MINS LATER

18:15
accountant
SamHOST
12:33
But what are the sort of challenges that you potentially see and opportunities with plug-in solar slash plug-in solar and battery?
12:40
I think it's a great opportunity for more consumers to get involved in the energy transition.
12:45
At the moment there are some people that are excluded and so it'd be really great to be able to get consumers using solar panel, getting involved in green energy, getting more interested in it.
12:53
So I think there is an opportunity there.
12:55
You mentioned a few different processes.
12:57
Obviously when it's rooftop solar we're talking about much larger systems.
13:00
From the announcements from government we know that plug-in solar is going to be limited to 800 watts.
SamHOST
16:10
And it's good to hear that it's all been spoken about, how they actually are going to be able to do those notifications because it'd be really interesting if that could be linked to say their warranty application so if they if they if the customer buys something for four five hundred six hundred pounds whatever it would end up costing but they have no warranty until they complete the warranty which is already which requires you to send that notification that would be a really great way to ensure that every single one of them got a notification you know was notified by you guys
4:22
... you would say, "This is a relaxed brain"?
4:24
Yeah, so let me start off with saying that Brain.fm is music that's made to enhance the activity that you're already doing with a click of a button.
4:33
And the way we do that is we basically s- see music, right? We know what your brain looks like in focus, relax, or sleep, and we develop, uh, specific rhythms and patterns that we put into the music, that when you listen, actually align your functional networks together in your brain that allow your brainwaves to sync and blood flow to shift as you're listening to music, allowing you to go into focus, relax, or sleep.
5:00
So we're doing that through a n- novel process called amplitude modulation.
5:05
[lips smack] Um, it creates a neural pa- neural, um, entrainment in your brain, right? And really, it's just fancy new technology that allows you to, um, shift from one state to another.
5:18
So in that, in that, um, in y- the mode that you're listening to when you're freaking on an airplane, right, what's happening is in the base frequency of the music, right, we have an on and off pulse.
5:31
In your brain, by listening to that pulse, it syncs to it, and it guides your brain into being a more relaxed state.

34 MINS LATER

39:25
Yeah
