Alex FoxHOST
And why is this an area that the National Party believe that there is a need for change in?

Dan BidoisGUEST
There's a larger number of New Zealanders that are set to retire, and retirement villages are part of the solution, but they don't fit for everybody.

Dan BidoisGUEST
So we need to make sure we've got a broad range of options for New Zealanders as they age.

Dan BidoisGUEST
So that's why we've got a policy around 20% of housing flexible fund for that ageing.

Dan BidoisGUEST
But we've also got other things, Alex, around expanding our successful granny flat law so that more people can build homes faster and cheaper, and also making it easier to build tiny homes, for example, to extend that from granny flats to tiny homes.

Alex FoxHOST
Does the National Party have any concern over such a large chunk of the population being left unable to vote come election day?

The details of this obviously haven't been announced yet, but I wanted to ask how this fits into National's plans moving forward.

Dan BidoisGUEST
Well, look, we don't want to be in this position where we're having to consider LNG.

Dan BidoisGUEST
However, Labour's ban on oil and gas exploration has put us in a tough position.

Dan BidoisGUEST
Report after report says the same thing, which is we lack base-level capacity to look after New Zealand during dry years.

Dan BidoisGUEST
And that base-level capacity really is currently being fulfilled by coal at the moment.

Dan BidoisGUEST
That is why we are in the position where we are looking at LNG importation in the LNG importation gas terminal.

Alex FoxHOST
And when we look at the National Party's vision of what this terminal looks like, is that something that's likely to be affected by coalition agreements and the position of other parties? Or does there seem to be kind of a cross-coalition consensus on the movements for the LNG? I
