take us forward again then 2006 you go to the states what were some of the things that you learned in and around Subway and the franchise of that at that time what were the things you picked up

Damian McColganGUEST
it's just there's a big world out there when you get to America and you're there on your own and you're in a class with like 80 other people that come in from around the world to do the Subway training it was definitely an eye opener and done the two weeks training come back to Strabane and paid all the franchise fees and done all that's correct and the next thing we're just straight onto this shot foot in the shop.

Damian McColganGUEST
So we opened our first shop, I think it was, I can't remember, I think it was like October, November time, 2006.

Damian McColganGUEST
And then me and the business partner, we opened three Subbys that first year, which I don't think had ever been done before.

Damian McColganGUEST
By first time franchisees, we opened one in Strabant and then we opened one in, I think it was Donegalow Town then, and then it was Balbuffet.

Damian McColganGUEST
and it was a mad mental busy first year like and then all things were flying then it couldn't be going any better and next thing bloody recession boom what's going on here so we had three shops worth maybe a million quid and then recession come in and you had a head of clothes down too you sat in one shop again going what the hell happened there like it was just like shops went from say for example like the subway in Dunedin Old Town was one of the busiest subways in Ireland we opened up we thought We'd bring in three or four staff extra band with that on.

yeah and what are some of the things then that you do you know you've a manager on there as well too and a couple of different managers what are some of the things that you do then D that helps you kind of navigate like looking after seven different shops and 70 odd staff
