Well, uh, morning Georgina.

I was in the, uh...

I was actually writing in the London Library, and I was very involved in what I was doing, and I saw, I, I saw that my husband kept trying to call me and I thought, "Oh, I'm not gonna respond because, you know, I'm working in a library." And then I saw a call from Waitrose, [laughs] so I picked it up and it said that, um, the guy said, "I can't deliver your groceries because there's a fire engine blocking the street." And then I realized, the penny dropped and I realized something terrible had happened.

And what it transpired had happened was that it, it, it was a January day, it was the afternoon, low winter sun had, um, hit my daughter's makeup mirror, magnifying makeup mirror that was standing on a, um, on a table next to her window, and it's a south-facing window.

And the beam from the window had hit, uh, the sort of curtains which had beads on them.

Don't ask me why they had beads on them, but they did.

So how did we get here? We asked Daisy to read her piece for us.

Now, we've already taken over two hundred and fifty thousand calls.

How bad was that?

This was called The Swan, and it was a huge, a hit show in America in about 2003.

It was a show where [laughs] women who were ugly ducklings, they were called that by the show, not by me, were taken away from their families for three months.

They were given extensive cosmetic surgery, dental work, uh, so-called psychological counseling, but mainly just, you know, get-your-act-together type stuff.

They lost weight.

They did exercise.

They did all this kind...

But actually, when you say it in the cold light of day, like the details of this, it comes across completely differently, doesn't it, than a really slick, well-produced trailer?

I wonder if you'd be able to read us a little bit.

I'd love to.

"I can always spot a big sister in the wild.

They are the women giving unsolicited advice in shops, as in, 'Have you thought about trying that jumper in the red? It would really suit your coloring,' or the women on airplanes who make everyone move around so that family groups can sit together whether they want to or not.

They are the women who confiscate their elderly relatives' [laughs] car keys and the women who earnestly advise you to buy a Thermomix.

'It really has changed my life.' I have done all of these things in the belief that I'm doing good work.
