I suppose decisions in most countries are made a lot based on financial reasons.

So we spoke earlier about Greenway development and how do we assess that in terms of potential impacts to the receiving environment And one thing, like we have two different budgets within Waterways Ireland.

We have a capital budget, which will drive capital development, and then we have a current budget, which will drive ongoing maintenance.

In the public sector, there's a constant bid for additional funding to make sure that we can keep our services to the best possible standard for our users.

But on the maintenance side, it was very interesting because a lot of, again, 1,100 kilometres of inland waterways, they... by their very nature, provide an ecosystem service.

So they do stuff.

Yeah, well, I think, to be honest, the metric they seem to be using, just judging from the article that was published, is just purely based on melody and specifically to do with the kind of intervallic leaps within a melody.

So if there are wide jumps in the melody, that that is somehow considered to be complex.

And if it's just little movements by step, that that is considered to be simple.

So I think it's quite a reductive metric, to be perfectly honest.

And it's also reductive to only focus on melody because there are so many other elements to the music and rhythm in particular, for instance.

And like in classical and jazz music, it could be argued that the rhythm in the past 50 years has become more complex.

Some of it doesn't sound like that at all.
