So let's start with a quick overview of how you came to play guitar and how your career grew to becoming an on-demand session guitarist.

Well, I began in a very musical family in Arlington, Virginia.

My mother played piano.

Her uncle was a piano player as well.

My father played organ.

They both were square dancers, round dancers.

My father was a caller.

What does that say about the general state of surf music these days?
