No doubt.
16:37
So the first five years for me, I bled money to the tune tunes of millions of dollars.
16:46
Wow.
16:46
And we used debt and we used paying ourselves nothing to make the business work where we added logos and we had employees.
16:59
But like inside of it was a dumpster fire would be an understatement.
17:04
And the thing that I have realized, and I want to connect back here for our community, is there's three things that it takes to make a sustainable business, whether it be a practice or team or weave or whatever it might be.
17:18
And it starts with, are your customers and employees taken care of? Because if they are taken care of, Then your customers keep coming back.
22:23
So I'd love for you to spend some time on how to evaluate AI tools, whether it's with virtual assistants or anything that someone brings into a practice.
0:48
Absolutely.
0:49
Okay.
0:50
Silly question, I know.
0:51
The Tetons is a fascinating thing to think about.
0:54
On the Wyoming side, you have Jackson Hole, on the other side you have, like, Driggs and these other smaller towns.
0:59
If I said, "Hey, Dana, Sandy, Monday morning, let's go meet and hike the Tetons," there's over 50 different trails along the mountain range of the Teton that start at different points but take you to the top.
1:13
So if I don't clearly define, "Sandy, Dana, we're gonna meet at Trailhead 42 on the Idaho side or the Wyoming side at 30 Sunday morning, and then here's how long the hike will take," we've never made the journey and the instructions in clear.
5:56
I think.
4:27
So did I get that accurate? And, and can you build on that for us? How are you using it with your team? Because I think what we discussed the other day is a pretty good example of how optometrists, practice owners should be thinking about using AI in their practice.
4:45
Absolutely.
4:46
Number one, good to see you, as always.
4:48
And even before hopping into that, you said something right as we got started, and I think that people with AI, and everybody has their right to reservations.
5:07
Personally, not businessly, I have my reservations about AI being does this eat our lunch in the future? But it's interesting if you go back and read the reviews or the comments of people right before the internet was starting to come out and be mass accepted, they are eerily similar.
5:27
Why am I gonna go type something in online? Now today, if people don't have basic internet understanding, it is very limiting in doing certain things in life.
5:41
And you read the reviews or the comments, sentiment of the market, it is eerily similar to the internet days.
9:13
Do you agree with that? I, I'm, since you work so closely with staff, I've heard mixed opinions on that though, people saying, "Well, it's not here to replace your job," and I've heard other people say, "Well, we may get to a point where you walk into an optometry practice and there's no one there to greet you." Is that a good thing? Is it a bad thing? Are we gonna get there or not?
