You guys are the same family, right? that brewed or brews that beer but there's some like business mumbo jumbo that has happened where this distillery is not connected with the brewery and the brewery is owned by someone else you might just clearing that up a little bit then we'll dive right into the the brown spirits that brought us together

yeah absolutely um so Yes, my last name is Sleeman.

And my great-great-grandfather started Sleeman Breweries and Spring Mill Distillery, believe it or not, in 1834 and 1836 in St. David's, just outside of St. Catharines, Ontario.

Um, industrialization of Buffalo, New York, uh, polluted the waters, um, that my great great grandfather's well and stream was pulling, um, the water out of to, uh, make and brew beer.

So the brewery business moved to, um, Guelph in the 1850s, 1855, somewhere in there.

In which the distillery business didn't make that transition, but the brewery did.

And went on to tremendous success.

Let's go buy a winery.

Sixth generation.

That's right, yeah.

So very lucky to be able to continue to work in this industry.

It's a fun industry.

Sapporo purchased Sleeman Breweries in 2006, and it was right around that time that my dad was unsure of what his responsibilities would be at the brewery given that large acquisition and the transition phase there and so he and I and my brother Quinn and We all, and my mom too, we all enjoy good whiskey.

And we've always enjoyed the stories that accompany a good whiskey.

It was around 2010 where my dad had the idea of starting a distillery.

So fascinating.
