Like, where do those lines really draw for you where it, it makes, it actually makes sense?
6:44
Yeah.
6:44
Well, so Byrna Technologies, we moved all of our, our personal protection device manufacturing from overseas back to the US several years ago there in Fort Wayne, and actually started developing an American supply base for everything that we could, giving them long-term contracts so that they could really invest and build their businesses, which has been a big win for us, uh, in this environment.
7:05
But when you take a step back and you think about tariff policy overall, you know, there are certainly times where tariffs make all the sense in the world.
7:14
You think about what China has done from an industrial policy point of view and, and flooding the US market with extremely cheap things that frankly are, are being sold below the cost that they can be made, even in China.
7:26
Um, that is unfair trade policies that just destroy the American manufacturing base and the, the ability for companies to compete because our government doesn't pick winners like that, and I don't think we want them to here.
7:38
So putting tariffs in place on industries and products like that, I think make all the sense in the world.
9:53
You know, if you, if you were a congressman for a day, right, and there's a couple, three free trade pol- priorities you could encourage or, or try to pass, what would those be, and why would they be important to the, uh, manufacturing industry?
24:20
For those who don't understand contract manufacturing, can you sort of spell out exactly how they entice so many companies to build overseas?
24:28
Absolutely.
24:29
So they do a couple of things.
24:30
I mean, first off is they will tell you, give us your manufacturing and you can reduce the amount of assets and costs that you have and really put all that into a variable or a per product cost so that you don't have all the overhead of having a factory, having employees that you have to hire.
24:49
you know, support, having healthcare that you have to pay for.
24:53
And instead you just shift that all to the contract manufacturer.
24:56
So they're responsible for all of that.

7 MINS LATER

31:40
of living a real dignified living to your american workforce why that's a patriotic thing to do
87:46
you are it's great to be back
87:48
with you and yes so burner technologies we manufacture less lethal launchers right here in the united states in indiana and what those are is they they look a lot like a handgun but they're not they're powered by carbon dioxide and they launch a chemical irritant round that can incapacitate someone from 60 feet away for up to 40 minutes so it's really a way to keep yourself safe without the fear of pulling the trigger and taking a life
91:05
Where do we need to go from here?
91:08
Well, I'll tell you, the consumer has been really resilient so far in this economy, which has been a little bit surprising to me.
91:15
Usually when you see what's happened with energy prices and what happened with gasoline prices, the consumer gets pinched pretty hard.
91:22
But they've been resilient so far.
91:23
I think we were in a pretty good shape from a credit point of view coming into this.
91:27
The current situation, but that can't last forever.
