It was late September, I recall, there was gold beneath our feet.

Did you find music or did music find you? And h- how has that grown to where you are today?

Yeah, it's a funny combination of both because my parents, while neither of them are musicians, they've always ha- music has always played quite a prominent role in the household.

Like I remember one particular holiday we took to Orlando when I was about 11 or 12, and my dad rented out this people carrier.

And you know on these long journeys, you get the satellite radio stations, the golden oldies programs that when you tune in, it says something to the effect of, "When you're listening to nothing but the best of oldies, you're listening to Magic 98.9." And you'd hear a Roy Orbison or, uh, Oreo Speedwagon, um, Boz Scaggs, all this amazing music that you just, you didn't necessarily hear on Irish radio, or they weren't necessarily artists that were in the commonly spoken about vernacular.

Like I had never heard Oreo Speedwagon before.

I had never heard Dan Fogelberg before, Jim Croce.

And on that particular trip, I remember it sort of reinvigorated my mother's love of music because we used to go to Terror Records, which was in Mall at Millenia in Orlando, or just outside Orlando, and she bought all of these discount CDs, and when we got home, would play them on repeat, like the Car-- the Best of The Carpenters, uh, Roy Orbison, things like "House with No Windows," uh, "It's Over," "In Dreams," all these.

yeah plenty of us out there still enjoy the physical record you're clearly no stranger to playing in Clare as you say another great venue Pot Duggans how have you been received when you've played down this part of the country?

But, you know, my family originally come from West Clare.

My grandfather came from a place called Ramelehi, and my granny from Moy.

And we spent many, many summers in Kilkee and Kilrush, in Ramelehi, of course.

And so the Banner County, it's special, Alan.

You know, there's history there, but also there's a genuine appreciation for music.

One, that they might have some familiarity with, but also that spirit of giving people a chance.

In terms of your own music, I know you're into a lot of what I'd be into myself in terms of those classic singer-songwriters of the late 60s into the 70s, the confessional songwriters, the Randy Newmans, or the observational songwriters as well, like Randy Newman, or be it Elton John, or maybe even most famously, given the size, how huge Tapestry was, Carole King, are they... kind of go-to, and Cat Stevens as well, are they your go-to inspirations, or have you a broader musical palace that you dip into in terms of your own stuff?
