Is that in fact the case?

That has been the case for a few years, but not really anymore.

Nova Scotia Power has greatly expanded the fast charging network and opened over a dozen new charging stations all across the province and in new places so that there is a much better coverage and there are faster chargers that can accommodate more vehicles at the same time.

So our capacity to charge EVs is way higher than it was even just 12 months ago.

How long does it take to charge a car? Well, these days on some of those new chargers that I was talking about with any of the EVs that we're going to have at Electric Avenue this weekend, you're looking at about 20 to maybe 30 minutes to get from 20% to 80%.

That's going to get you about 350 kilometers.

So stopping for 20 or 30 minutes every two or three hours is actually like... pretty online with what most people would want to do anyway, because you want to take a break, use the washroom, grab a snack, have a coffee, and that'll give you that chance.
