You think it was a money thing, Colby, with, with why they didn't go get Hoffman or why they didn't go get Weaver? 'Cause I mean, it feels like that's certainly a fair conversation to have.

Yeah, um, it's, it's certainly possible.

Uh, we did hear before, uh, the, the deadline that, you know, they had a little bit of flexibility.

They're actually fairly significantly under where they were last year, so I don't know why they don't have more flexibility.

But it, it certainly is a possibility and, you know, I, I'm, I'm with Ty on this whole thing.

It's, it's kinda like, I, like, part of me thinks and understands the whole idea of like, do you want to invest serious assets, long-term assets in this roster and this team when 112 games into the year they've been the most mediocre ball club we can remember in, like, two decades? Uh, I guess not, but at the same time, y- you went out and you spent the money to go get Taylor Ward.

You spent the assets to go get Taylor Ward.

How do you think the offense now lines up with everything moving forward?

Yeah, I think it lines up pretty well, especially the one through five.

I assume Donovan will hit leadoff against right-handed pitching at least, and then the way they had it last year, Cal's going to hit two, Julio's going to hit three, and those, obviously Cal, the runner-up in the MVP voting, and I believe Julio finished sixth, so it's a really good, you know, one, two, three punch, and then you back it up with Josh Naylor, who was, you know, incredible for the Mariners last year, and then pushes Randy or is a rain all the way down to five.

That's a really good one through five, uh, the six through nine, uh, you know, we'll see how it goes.

Uh, JP Crawford is an underrated hitter, uh, at the very least defense, not too great.

And then we'll kind of see how it goes.

Canzone had a really nice year last year, but only about 250 plate appearances.

What else do you want to see the Mariners do going into this year, or more to the point, what is the biggest question mark you see on this team who sees that their window of opportunity to win a pennant is right now?

Uh, just first thought, best thought, Colby, what is your first, uh, uh, impression when you saw the trade finally go through this afternoon?

Yeah, it's excitement.

Uh, the Mariners have been after Donovan for the last, uh, two winters.

Uh, and this was the guy that they had kind of circled as the one they wanted.

Uh, you know, they were linked to Ketel Marte early.

I don't think that really ever got going.

Uh, so it's just kind of one of those things where Donovan was the guy they wanted.
