That is the whole plot of the story where it's just things keep happening.

happening it never stops um i don't know if y'all probably haven't seen it there's this movie called crank high voltage from like 2007 or something like that it's jason statham but point being is that in that movie he has like a uh like a bomb placed inside his chest like around his heart and so if he doesn't keep his his uh his heartbeat up above a certain like threshold he'll explode and With anyone around him, right? And that's how this book feels to me a lot of the times.

It's like the pressure must stay on no matter what, because if it doesn't, everybody dies.

That's how this writing feels to me for a lot of the series, where it's just like, He can have no rest.

So Bastian is, um, a city in hell, and our main character, Scorio, is reborn into basically a giant monolith, uh, that immediately sends him into a gauntlet of trials, along with a set of three other people.

Um, he has to overcome this trial and then is reborn back into Bastian itself, and has to, uh, then figure out this new life that he has been given, which is actually re- being reborn.

So he's lived before, and, uh, is now back, but it turns out he's a little different from everyone else, which is, uh, you know, it's been several hundred years since he's been reborn, and only has been reborn like, what, five, six times or something like that.

It's really their job.

Right.

That, that sh- that, there's no excuse there.
