Carol recalled that at the time they were all solely focused on getting more cocaine, so neither she nor her boyfriend Mario asked questions about the box or where he got it from.
28:09
And the three of them, uh, Stang, his sister, and her boyfriend, all are attempting to gain access to this box.
28:18
One of the things that she tells investigators is that when they did get access to the box, there was, uh, a couple hundred dollars in there, but, um, they also noticed that there was pieces of paper that had Subway on it and the Subway logo on those pieces of paper.
28:35
Stang's sister indicates that she knew that the box came from Subway because of the pieces of paper that were in there, um, but she just assumed that it was a theft.
28:46
And, um, and so they ended up doing some more drugs that night, and it wasn't until the next morning when it really broke on the news that she saw that there had been a homicide at the Subway, and that's when she was able to piece things together and realize that her brother very, very likely committed a homicide.
29:08
She indicated to us that she, uh, as she was panicking and trying to clean, um, some of these items, that she actually got rid of them, so that she took them out of the house and, and got rid of them, but that, uh, she would be willing to show us where they were.

7 MINS LATER

Deputy Chief Cliff O'Brien said both Carol and Mario corroborated each other's accounts, so police now had a mountain of evidence against Trevor Stang for both the attack at the bank and the murder of Tara McDonald.
36:11
So we have a, an ATM robbery with, uh, with a, a hammer, where somebody is, uh, essentially bludgeoned almost to death.
11:00
And to be honest, I saw a lot of the same issues today.
11:05
You know what? There's been a lot of work done to try to clean up the neighborhood, but at the end of the day, we still have people that are homeless.
11:13
We still have people that are addicted to drugs.
11:15
And, uh, it's just a different drug, so instead of cocaine, it's now meth, it's now fentanyl.
11:20
Uh, and every drug has its own side effects, and certainly with meth and with fentanyl, we see, uh, we see increased violence, and, uh, we still see that.
11:30
We- we're a big city.
11:31
We see it in all big cities in North America, but certainly here we still see it.
15:55
Here again is Deputy Chief Cliff O'Brien.
