What forms of activism do you personally engage in, and what do you find is the most effective form for you?

So I'll tell you all the things I've been involved in over the years.

The first thing I did was print my own leaflets and go out in the street by myself, and then I set up an Earthlings group, and then I was an organizer for Anonymous for the Voiceless for a long time.

Was an organizer for two different Save groups, one at Carlow and Cookstown and one at Cranwick.

In Ballymena.

Um, I set up my own group called V Kind, and we did, like, a food table in the city center.

It's where we got people to bring along vegan food, and then people would come and take the food, and we'd talk to them about that.

At what point did you then start to get into activism and why?

Immediately, believe it or not.

So, went vegan, started telling other people about it, and then I actually emailed Gary Yourofsky, he had a website, I don't know if he still does his website, it was called adapttt.org, and his email address was on it, so I emailed him, not expecting a reply, and he replied like straight away.

and I think I asked him what would be the best way to do activism and what's the best way to speak to people and as gory does he sent me this like really blunt he wasn't rude he was just straight to the point he was like just tell the flipping truth just be honest don't shy away from laying it down as it is and so I just went from there the first thing I did I got a load of leaflets printed and went in the town and was just handing them out I think we gave 500 out on the first day, but which I thought was a good thing to do because you think, ah, handling leaflets, that's what everybody does, right? But when I was walking away, I passed a bin on the street and it was filled with the leaflets and I was like, it's the freaking point in giving people a leaflet.

You haven't explained anything to them and 99% of people are going to chuck it away before they ever look at it.

So, Then I just started, look, I actually started a DXE chapter in Belfast, was the first thing I did, and we used to go around doing speak-outs in some of the food courts, and McDonald's, and the fish place over here, I can't think of what it's called, and some of the shops that sell leather and fur in Victoria Square.

But again, I mean, I wouldn't knock it, I don't knock other activists, I just found it wasn't for me, because again, the speak-out, you're kind of It's almost like you're preaching to people.

Why is that and how big of a problem is it, man?
