And so you're gonna be able to see those individual lots by holding period, presumably an acquisition date, like, in the traditionally custodied account once the transaction is completely done, subject, uh, assuming you've got all the reporting done.
24:51
If you have the reporting, you will likely be the one assigning the basis at the custodian level.
24:56
So when it lands at whichever custodian you are at, you can then assign basis to it.
25:01
That was something that we did because we knew, like, there was just meticulous records of when it was purchased on chain and all that stuff, so it was as simple as us coordinating obviously with our back office to assign the basis and at, at the lot level accordingly.
25:15
So that was one thing that had to happen first off, right? Like, off the bat, reporting, very important.
25:20
[laughs] Got that taken care of.
25:22
And then from there, you know, it's really off to the races, whatever you want to accomplish.
27:05
Is that, is that true? And, like, do you have any, like, you know, shades of gray you could share with us on that?
1:11
How did they get to you? And, you know, what are you thinking about when they've got this big, meaty, self-custodied asset?
1:19
Obviously, from the eyes of a financial planner, right? There, there are so many aspects to holding a concentrated position, especially something like crypto, because it is self-custody, right? This is not on your standard brokerage account or anything like that.
1:33
So I think it's really interesting, just given the performance, there are early investors of cryptocurrency and Bitcoin and things like that, where these people have been kind of HODLing, right, for, for a really long time, and their basis can effectively be zero.
1:47
But all of a sudden you're looking at the balance sheet and you're going, "Oh my God, we've got a multimillion-dollar asset that is kind of the entire balance sheet." There's, there, there's not much diversification outside of that.
2:00
And then on top of it, as an advisor, you're wondering, "But does everybody in that household understand this asset?" One thing that stands out to me is this idea of key person risk, right, Brett? It's not uncommon to see at the household level that one spouse may be what we would deem or what Teddy might deem a, a crypto native, right? They understand how to operate and manage hot wallets, cold wallets, self-custody.
2:22
But it's not uncommon to see the other spouse entirely removed, and we see this as planners all the time, even in traditional finance.
2:30
Now we're adding this whole new layer of cryptocurrency and decentralized finance to the picture, and that's a massive risk in which, like, what, what's going on in the event that crypto native spouse passes? Am I getting on a plane and trying to find, you know, the seed phrase to, to this mega asset on the balance sheet?

You just do it, and it, it becomes one of those things as you stack all these little straws together, it breaks the camel's back eventually, and you realize that these are all things that make it so much easier if you just manage to get your spot holdings into an ETF.
