Please do kindly tell everybody who you are and how you got to do what you do, why you're still doing it, and exactly, yes, what it is that you're doing.

Claire PedrickGUEST
And I'm in the privileged position of being at the front of the game of coaching in the UK and then in the world, which has been a really extraordinarily privileged position.

Claire PedrickGUEST
And I think partly because I'd coached before I trained as a coach, and partly because I often go, "Really?" I have become more confident over time to call out the overcomplication of the coaching profession.

Claire PedrickGUEST
So over, I've, I've coached about 15,000 hours, leaders, church leaders, leaders, career-changing people, all sorts of things over the years.

Claire PedrickGUEST
And because people say I can say complicated things simply, I got myself into the world of training manag- to start with managers to use coaching skills at work, and then more recently to do some specialized development, more recently, like the last 15 years, to develop coaches to do less and to have more transformational conversations by doing less.

Claire PedrickGUEST
No, I think, I think what was interesting was that I really felt I should get some training, because I wasn't trained to do what I was doing because I made it up.

Claire PedrickGUEST
But then I had to go on a coach training program, which, which I gladly did, but it was really odd because I had, had got more experience than some of the people that were training me, and so there was a sense-making thing.

Claire PedrickGUEST
So all along, so Simplifying Coaching was probably born then because I, I remember getting the, the, the handouts, and you had to buy your own files, and they sent you this, they shipped from America, this, I promise you, it was, it was like five reams of paper.

Claire PedrickGUEST
And I had to put them all in folders, and they all came with little separators.

Claire PedrickGUEST
And I mean, honestly, and I'm looking at it and going, "I really get that I need to learn to do this better.

Claire PedrickGUEST
I absolutely, I also need credibility 'cause I need a, a, a training and a qualification that proves that I can do this.

And the reason I'm s- slowing down is that just feels like a really important thing to slow down on, right? How we are impacts how they are.

If we can start by sharing a bit about your journey and your path to publication.

Claire PedrickGUEST
So in my early days, I published a book called How to Make Great Appointments in the Church because I was doing work around appointments.

Claire PedrickGUEST
So Sue Blanche, who's now my business partner, she and I wrote this book and it was great fun.
