young.
5:48
Yeah.
5:49
So I went from being child to adult very quickly.
5:52
And my teenage years were not an easy path.
5:56
Introduced a stepfather, introduced, you know, a mum going to full-time work.
6:02
So very much.
6:03
Lots of change.
9:48
Recovering from trauma in your early 20s, what was, and that sounds like it was impactful with that Buddhist nun, but what did you do with that from your early 20s?
MarkHOST
7:04
Does that make sense?
7:06
Yeah, I think one of the things that having meditated for a long period of time is my ability to listen and to really hear clearly what is the underlying story behind what the superficial words are saying.
7:21
So in providing them the mirror of saying, are you aware that you just said this? And our words are just a reflection of what's going on in our mind.
7:33
So to be able to feed back to them that they are repetitively bringing forth an underlying belief that is either unhelpful or unhealthy for them at the moment and, you know, One of them might be, you know, I don't have enough time or I'm too busy.
7:51
That's pretty common in this day and age.
7:55
I can't or that sort of thing.
7:57
So being able to reflect that back and giving them some time with that and how that is holding them back in most situations, it's holding them back from making a decision.

What's that journey been like for you?
17:10
Is that rewriting the language people use part of how you help somebody with the mindset, that internal monologue that they have and the language they're using, is changing that part of how you help people?
17:26
Very much so.
17:28
What happens is, you know, in our minds that we have a thought and then we have an associated feeling or emotion that comes with it.
17:35
And then we normally have a behaviour that follows that.
17:38
So we get the thought first.
17:40
Then we have the feeling and then we do something with that.
17:45
You know, we might say something or we might behave in a certain way or, you know, it plays out in that way.

Have you ever worked with people who've had that unhelpful mindset for their role?
