What might be some experience you had in school that your autism impacted you but went unrecognized? I'm sure there's probably too long of a list, but

Cindy GerlachGUEST
When I was reflecting on that question, I was reflecting on sort of those core deficits that we know today that weren't recognizable in society.

Cindy GerlachGUEST
Because when I went to school, you know, it was what one in 10,000 people had autism, right? And they were looking at that autistic individual who showed significant co-occurring conditions that, you know, That made it impossible for them to sort of function in a society that was quite rigid and very judgmental in all aspects.

Cindy GerlachGUEST
But core things that stood out for me was, and actually, they still impact me today.

Cindy GerlachGUEST
So that whole piece of, I really wanted to connect with other people, but I didn't know how.

Cindy GerlachGUEST
So I wanted friends, but I didn't necessarily understand the rules on how to have those friendships.

I'm wondering how that might have prepared you to be a board of director, to navigate getting your voice heard and valued on a board as an autistic person, because a lot of times we kind of end up being those token autistic person on a board.
