Light Infantry, Middle Earth.
6:59
Yeah.
7:00
Um, well, allegedly he, um, he was able to beat, she's an alibi last start and break the record.
7:09
So he couldn't be in any better form.
7:12
Um, he's, uh, it was obviously a big price, but as we know, he's got the ability, he needs things to go his way.
7:21
Cause he has, does have a mind of his own.
7:25
Um, but, um, If things do go his way, as we've seen last start, he is right up there with the best of them, having broken the record.
8:51
What makes you so successful as a trainer, Kieran?
17:12
Kieran, for those who don't know you listening to Gold Sport today, just give us a quick headline on, you know, the headlines along the journey from when you started to now building up the biggest stable in Australian racing.
17:28
Well, I started off training in Warrnambool off my parents' farm and, Uh, the second year I was training, I had a good horse called Tears I Cry that won the Emirates stakes at a hundred to one.
17:39
And that was, the stable sort of started to double.
17:42
I stayed in Warrnambool for another couple of years, wanted to, um, expand and get to Melbourne.
17:49
And, uh, not too long after I ended up with a horse called Jamaica, who won the Caulfield Cup and the Oaks and a couple of others.
17:58
And, uh, yeah, um, We've taken opportunities when they've presented, albeit with trainers retiring or getting suspended or whatever.
18:14
There's been a couple of times.
19:06
Take us through Saturday in the Cox Plate.

42:07
Can you maybe share a bit about how you're, I guess, pushing the envelope when it comes to sports science?
42:14
Well, science, I think it's, um, all data.
42:19
Every business in the world, every sport in the world, whether it's...
42:25
I think horse racing's probably the more backward of, of, you know, like if you think of car racing, bike racing.
42:32
If you think of how, well, Will Hayes would be interesting, like the, the way AFL footy players trained 20 years ago to how they train now is just completely different completely.
42:50
And horse racing, uh, everyone's been doing the same thing for a number of, number of years.
42:56
And, uh, that was sort of the catalyst as to why, how, how can we do it better? And, you know, you're tweaking little things all the way along, you know, as you learn more about the individual, what- whatever they're, you know, you're benchmarking against themselves really.

He was asking about, you know, "Where's Gold Trip? Where's Gold Trip?"
109:46
I'm not too sure how that works, but your emotion, and outwardly your emotion, and you're a pretty conservative guy for the best part, I reckon, but you display plenty of it when Jimmy Star gets the job done.
109:58
Yeah, well, they're just two very thrilling horses.
110:01
One, and both quite different.
110:04
Well, they're both very different horses.
110:07
One's just explosive turn of foot and the other one's just raw grit and determination.
110:12
Um, and both, you know, I suppose Jenny, she's had a, she had a brilliant, uh, winter campaign.
110:22
Um, and, uh, Jimmy, his campaign, he wasn't quite at his best.
111:40
Is it one of the most popular, and of all your horses, this is going to be so hard for you to do, but is Pride of Jenny one of the most popular that you've seen?
5:53
I'm not too sure how that works, but y- your emotion and outwardly your emotion, and you're a pretty conservative guy for the best part, I reckon, but you display plenty of it when Jimmy Star gets the job done.
6:03
done.Yeah, well, they're just two very thrilling horses.
6:08
One, and both quite different.
6:11
Well, they're both very different.
6:13
Um, one's this explosive turn afoot, and the other one's just raw grit and determination.
6:19
Um, and both, you know, I suppose Jenny, she's had a, she had a brilliant, uh, winter campaign.
6:29
Um, and, uh, Jimmy, h- his campaign, he wasn't quite at his best.
8:59
You've had success.
4:20
What was the data and the feedback you got from the team on that jump out?
4:24
Yeah, it's sort of...
4:25
He trialled the same with or without blinkers.
4:30
You know, he's two trials... prior to his first run were just as electric.
4:35
So, as I said to the team before going into the trial with the blinkers on, you know, you can sort of take out of it what you like.
4:43
You can say, oh, the blinkers were good, but he's good without them.
4:48
But I think, you know, run under his belt back to 1,200 and I've often thought, you know, Blinkers would help at some point.
7:39
Could any of those surprise you?
