Did you have any trepidation about stepping into a space that was defined by your Latina identity?

Oh, yeah.

My parents were incredibly supportive and loving, and they wanted me to feel good about who I was.

And as I got older, I remember thinking at one point that I didn't fit in anywhere.

I didn't fit in the Anglo world.

I didn't fit in the Latino world.

I kind of had that experience with one foot in each culture that I think it turns out most of us have.
