Uh, I, I studied business and law at, at university and was all set to become a lawyer and had accepted a job with a, with a law firm and had also got them to agree that I could travel, basically like a gap year, for about nine months before, before starting working for them.

And, and then in the course of that...
1:49
Well, actually, that, I, I agreed to work with them just at the start of my final year of university, and then in that final year, I won a scholarship from one of the British investment banks, and that ended up in me, while I was traveling, uh, having some interviews with the bank and ultimately getting a job with them and thinking, "Well, if I don't take it, I'll probably always regret it." And so, yeah, uh, let's, let's give it a shot at London.
2:24
As a, you know, someone in their early 20s, it was a very exciting place to be and, and so I thought, "Yeah, I'd love to spend some time here." And in that stint, I did end up spending six years, uh, working in London, and in that sixth year, I took a trip to South Africa.
2:41
And on that trip, in addition to going on safari and exploring the wonders of the Garden Route and, and the Winelands and Cape Town, I also helped to build a house for a family in one of the townships, and this just added two dimension, two extra dimensions to traveling for me.
3:01
Uh, one, in, in contrast to that nine months of travel that I'd done previously and some other trips, on, uh, on this occasion, I actually got to interact with the local people and hear their stories and gain insights into their lives.
