Cover crops on the dairy farm

What's the best way to really get some information to be able to feel confident that they are making the right decision so they don't end up with, frankly, a lot of crappy feed?

So, you know, one of the things I think our friends that are cash croppers maybe do better than those of us in the livestock business.

You see it pretty commonly, you know, plots, you know, driving along the road and whatever company or whatever agronomy service they have, there are signs there.

And I think that culture within livestock producers, like appreciating that the livestock business is high risk, high investment, I get it, okay? But I think the whole culture of playing with things we don't do as well as our agronomy counterparts and so you know this idea of maybe doing an acre know and just seeing how it works out and i realize there's limitations around equipment i get all that okay but this culture of maybe doing a little bit um i don't think we do as well in the livestock business okay broad broadly spoken you know we're either into a strategy or we're not into a strategy so the advice i'd say is if you're not comfortable with this you either need to really be watching what your neighbor is doing or get the ability to do a small amount of this like to switch your entire forge system over even to this stuff that i'm enthusiastic about It is high risk.

And we haven't even talked about this other element of what you plant after, because this is a part of the whole equation too.

If you have rye coming off by May 20th, triticale coming off by June 10th, Now something else needs to happen with that field.

And this is really why the language we've talked about this, you know, we talk about double cropping a lot here in Ontario.
