But why don't we start here? How did you get involved in this? What brought you to the ECMO world? And why is this what you do with your time?

Oh, that's a great question.

I started my ECMO experience actually when I was about 18 years old.

And that was as a student at the University of Michigan that needed a job.

And so I started work in Bob Bartlett's CCLS research lab, not knowing much about what that is.

And I did that throughout my undergrad experience.

One thing I will tell you just in that there are two things that were important that came out for me then.

Before we jump down any of those paths, can we take a really high level view of if folks haven't intersected with ELSO, what is it? What does it do? And I think we'll start using that as a jumping place to get into some of these stories and these ideas.
