So talk to me about some of what's being done, including sterile fly dispersal.

Yeah, so the main way that we control this and the way we were able to eradicate it and push it back south of the Darien Gap several decades ago was a sterile fly technique.

So the unique thing about this fly is that the female will mate once and then she can lay several egg packets together.

So if we release sterile male flies and she mates with a sterile male, she's going to lay eggs that are sterile and are not going to continue that life cycle and turn into larvae and then drop off and then turn into new flies.

So that's been very, very successful.

The problem is that we just don't have enough flies.

When you're just covering the Darien Gap area, you don't need as many flies.
