I get to sit in my backyard and look up and go, "Yeah, no Hawaii, but I can now look at a, uh, red chimney." I never...

You know, you know what's funny? I never had ever looked at my chimney before in like 10 years, and then now that I had to like pick the color and the paint, now I like notice the chimney all the time.

Because I couldn't see the, the island or the beach, I got to hang out and look at my roof.

... is so much when you deal with human beings, we, we, we, we in our sport...

The other sports don't do this as much.

Our sport, we try and break it all down by numbers.

We think we have the num- we think we have the answers based on numbers.

But numbers don't always tell you about what's going on with the human beings.

And the one thing that I noticed, and Michael lived it with us, is that Vegas, that, that six-game stretch was actually a really good stretch.

I mean, uh, uh, live here in Alexandria, Virginia, Northern Virginia, the fringes of, uh, Washington, DC, and I've been here since UE sent me down here in 1992 to be the political action director for UE.

And I, I wanna preface, uh, you know, when you deal with subjects, political action, legislative affairs and all this, I always wanna say there was a, a, a UE truism that I was bathed in in my time as a UE member and field staff, uh, member organizer, but when I became the Washington, uh, representative, or as we used to call it in UE, I, I took it to heart, and it was this.

If you're a trade unionist, certainly if you're a left-wing trade unionist, which I know we sure are, you gotta know the difference between political action and playing politics.

It's not just a trite little observation.

Um, can you respond a little bit to the, the, some of the weaknesses of the bill and, uh, of that strategy?

So how do you operationalize data and what does that mean for a federal agency?

You know, Elastic is widely deployed across the federal government and across public sector.

And And it's a very large vertical.

It's, in fact, our largest vertical for us across all of Elastic.

So our biggest individual customer set is public sector.

And I think the reason for that, John, is that our data platform – was developed as an open source platform and it integrates with a lot of other systems and tools.

It was built organically from the ground up.

What kind of predictions are you looking at the last half of the year?

Were there people that you came across that you remember?

I remember groups of people.

There were, again, unsurprisingly, when around Mont Blanc, that's was the busiest time.

That's when I saw most people.

Varying from, you know, mountaineers going up into the snow, day walkers.

I mean, sh- you're almost in Chamonix at one point, so obviously it's a very popular area.

You don't get, it seems, many backpackers through there.

What's the first weirdest?

[laughs]

The organization thanks you.

And you take two out of three, which by the way, no question, I'm not overselling this, is the most meaningful two wins that they have had in this ballpark.

'Cause you can talk about last year.

Last year you were out of the race in May, losing 20 of 21, and I know we sold it.

But you were in first place, you win these games, you stay in first place.

This is, this is what meaningful baseball means.
