When something happens that requires the public to be notified, how does that information get out so quickly?

So the staff at 911 are trained to notify the public through the Deschutes Alert system.

So it certainly depends on what incident is going on, whether it's law enforcement or fire.

You know, there's many incidents on a daily basis that are require us a low level of public notification but when those incidents rise up to the level where a broader area needs to be utilized to notify the public then we'll use the shoots alert system so if it's on the law enforcement side it's typically the incident commander will reach directly out to the supervisor at 911 and say hey i need a quarter mile radius from this incident And we will use the software to select a radius, in that case, a quarter mile from wherever the incident's happening.

And it will notify all the people that have opted in to the Deschutes Alert System based on that geographic location.

On the fire side, it often is in close coordination with Ben and his team at Deschutes County Emergency Management.

um they will coordinate the best areas to be notified of what level of evacuation and then the dispatch supervisors uh at 911 will um notify the public via the shoots alert system

um so what was it like watching that world-class group train and how did that trip kind of reignite the fire to knuckle down

yeah well that that definitely was one of the things so um that was probably so how it sort of panned out that i was i went traveling kind of with my friend he he did certain bits didn't do other bits the first sort of couple of months i went to america which was saying my friends at the college sort of doing the college scene running wise so i saw a lot of that went off it you know having done that i think i had a couple of weeks off went to stay with them you know i was going out with them but doing a bit of running because they were doing it Went to Kenya, obviously training there because there was literally nothing else to do but in I-10.

So training a bit more there.

Went to South Africa, did quite a lot of training there.

And that was like, I actually went to Pochastrums, you know, it's like where Kasta Semenya used to train there.

Nigel Amos used to train there.

So like you see these and you see these other like international athletes who go and do their warm weather altitude training there.

So being self-coached, what does your typical peak training week look like for you and how do you structure your blocks, making sure that you're hitting the right sort of paces for everything from the 1500 to the marathon?

And so Ireland in history has always been known as the island behind the island.

Now, what is happening in the new geopolitical situation is that the waters to the west of Ireland now are becoming an area of interest to Russia and increasingly now to China as well.

And where it leaves Britain vulnerable in particular is the ability of both those states to conduct what we call grey zone warfare against infrastructure, particularly the cables that lead out from Ireland.

And not a lot of people know that.
