But what strikes me is that Charlton's approach is not to produce the same player repeatedly to play the same style of football, but actually begins with identifying, first and foremost, what makes each individual different.

So if we saw something in them when they was 12, is it still there when they were 13 or 14? If we're seeing it at 13 and 14, can we get them through to 15 and 16? And if it's still there and it's still developing at 15 and 16, then why not take them through to 18 and 19 and continue to push and develop all those areas? And what it was that we, let's say what it was that made us want to sign them in the first place if that's still there at 15 16 17 then let's make that their outstanding attribute let's make that the thing that everyone turns around and says wow um and then the things that maybe they struggle with let's make sure that they're not so bad at those things that it's going to get them released or it's not going to get them a professional contract and that's kind of the way that we look at things

Obviously you're playing for points, but when you're younger, you know, you want to win every game, but it's all about development.

If you went into, look at us on a day, you come in here, you look at us on a day and then maybe you go to another club and you look at them on a day and on the surface, I don't think you'll see a lot different in terms of the football.

I think you'll see the same level of demand being put on people.
15:28
I think you'll see the same types of training sessions.
15:31
So I do just think it goes back to the people that work within the environment and the care and the desire that the people within our environment have for developing all of the players.
15:42
But then a big part of it, I also think is the fact that we have had continuity.
