We also did it as a closing film and we also then realised maybe we shouldn't have done that.

No, keep it as something in the middle.

But I think that's one of the things that's been really interesting is the kind of film culture of Nottingham.

There are lots of good programmers working in the city who really know their audiences and there's a kind of specialism, you know what I mean? You're building a kind of an audience programmer kind of relationship so that everyone can talk to you really accessible.

You can go online and talk to Dead Duck.

You can start having conversations about what you want to see what you like, what you enjoyed about the screenings you went to.

And I think it's really brilliant.

Is there a specific film viewing experience that sort of stands out to you?

So how big of a problem is organised crime in the town and the wider region?

So I think we're one of the places that when anywhere gets to the sort of size that we are, we're always growing.

It's one of the challenges that we face, especially when areas have been underfunded for a long amount of time.

creates more vulnerabilities in more people so what we need to really start to address is those sort of deficits in people's lives and the things that make especially young people more susceptible so we're at the minute we're investing in stuff like youth clubs but also that family support those things that have been eroded over the years like shoe starts and all of those other things people might not instantly see that as a problem towards organized crime but actually it is It's all of these things that would have helped and supported young people to not choose those routes or to be able to make better choices in life.

Crime is quite a challenge, isn't it, in Middlesbrough? I think last year 150 crimes per 1,000 people and Cleveland Police Force had the highest murder rate in the country, didn't it?

Yeah, and it's worth saying that the starting point when I first came in, I'd been inherited a crime stat of 170, over 170.

And at that point, the wardens were about to lose their jobs and various cuts have been made to the community safety.

So one of the things I've done is to reverse that.

Yeah, we didn't want tree roots in the tunnel.

But there are some big trees on the green, right? You just have to plant them.

Some massive trees.

And I'll say they were small when they were planted, right? So, you know, you fast forward 20 years and the law of, you know, unintended consequences.

We've now achieved, because we have so much diverse species of trees, that we have an arboretum status.

It's just hard to imagine that this park... that folks were highly critical of when it first opened.

Now that it's matured, it's lush, it's verdant, it's bucolic, but thank goodness it's devoid of buildings.

Chris, do you think there should be buildings on the Rose Kennedy Greenway?

Am I wrong here, Chris?

Not at all.

But, um, tell us about the, the format because it's a bit of a night out waiting for people as well, isn't it?

Yeah.

We've got a rally forum meeting on the Saturday night for the majority of the competitors I think will be coming, and we've got, uh, three personalities on the stage.

We're, we, we're still working on the, the finer details of that and then, uh, you know, obviously local pasties and a bit of beer flowing about.

And then we, we'll move into Sunday morning and that's when the real action kicks off and where mine and Rob's headaches will probably start and finish.

And so it's just-

Um, what can spectators look forward to on the day itself? Have we got, uh, demo stages? Just one? Have you got more than one? What, what's the deal?

Yeah.

How did you know it was the right moment to retire?

Good question.

Um, I just, I just felt different.

I remember being in the Olympic final, last race.

That was the one where Michael Phelps picked up his eighth gold medal.

We were in the British relay two or three lanes away.

Mm-hmm.

Uh, you know, it seems like it's kind of a unique case and frankly, kind of hard to follow.

So this story is, like, a particular technical challenge for newsrooms.

First of all, just because of the sheer size of the document drop, which is far larger than anything else we've really ever had to deal with at speed, and the second thing is that the Department of Justice's IT systems have really struggled to deliver stuff.

You've probably read that they've had trouble redacting documents.

Some victims' names have appeared in things.

Some explicit photographs have been published, too, and as they've been spotting those things, they've been pulling down thousands of documents from their website, so they're no longer available, you know, fixing them up and then putting them back.

And what that means is that basically, at any given moment, when you look at their website, you'll get a slightly different selection of documents that you can download, and it's meant that as we have been trying to gather these things so we can sift them, what is available has changed from hour to hour.

Chris, because this has become a bit of a mess, how should people think about some of the names that have been released in the Epstein files? Because from my understanding, just because you're named in the Epstein files doesn't necessarily mean that you had direct contact or did any of the wrongdoing that is associated with Jeffrey Epstein.
