So y- you're, where are you based? Give us a little bit of your background, what you're up to these days, kinda what is, uh, paint us a picture of, of life in, in your world.
3:23
Yeah.
3:23
So I am based in Sacramento, California, but before that, I actually started my photography journey in Tacoma, Washington.
3:31
So I learned in the moody weather, the, the greens everywhere, you know, saturating the skin tone, and that's where I learned.
3:39
I would commute from Bremerton, Washington, on a ferry every morning to g- and then walk 20 blocks.
3:45
My kids are like, "Did that really happen, Chloe?" I'm like, "Yes, I walked 20 blocks, 4:00 in the morning, to go to a, um, school portrait studio there." And I would, you know, gather all my lighting gear.
3:56
I'd put it in the car, and I would travel from there, from Seattle, to different schools, and it was, oh, John, it was, like, soul-sucking.

Why don't you talk about kinda some of the things that you're working on for your education brand and the Profoto side of things too?
26:56
And, but when you're doing a portrait session, let's say, are you ever playing your own music for you and your clients, or playing music they want, or is it just you and them talking and there's nothing going on besides ambient noises?
27:11
Yeah, so if I'm outside, I don't wanna, like, mess with nature.
27:14
Like, I think there's amazing sounds outside already, and it can be really cool, and it can disturb wildlife.
27:20
And so we're in California.
27:22
I'm, I'm not trying to, like, disturb the wildlife.
27:24
And then in the city it makes it kind of hard.
27:26
I mean, you know those people that are on their bikes blasting their music? I'm like, I don't ever wanna be those people.
31:11
As somebody who teaches and mentors, what's the biggest mindset shift photographers need to make when they move from learning to actually owning what they do?
