Tell us all about it.
0:35
It's a sing-along and storytelling show that's based on my experiences of coming out in the 90s where things were really different.
0:45
You know, there was no internet.
0:47
We had no legal recognition of rights as couples and, you know, being gay in Tasmania was still illegal until 1997.
0:56
So I sort of talked through the politics but also my individual experiences with, you know, my first and second and third girlfriends and getting involved in the queer history you know, what is now queer history.
1:11
But then we also layer in queer anthems from the 90s, mainly lesbian ones, and the audience gets a chance to sing along because we give them the lyrics on a screen.

So when you did that work-in-progress, were people saying to you, oh my God, you have taken me back there? You have taken me back to the 90s? Wow.
8:29
Absolutely.
21:09
So when you said upset about the whole thing not the fact that you were the only gay person in a corporate environment and experiencing that kind of situation but they were upset that you were gay.
21:21
Yeah, they were upset that I was the only gay in the family.
21:24
That was actually problematic.
21:26
And I do sometimes talk about this in the show.
21:28
It depends how we're going with the audience.
21:31
But my mum and my sister and brother knew before my dad did.
21:35
And they were kind of reluctantly accepting, but not really.
26:23
So, I mean, what I'm sensing here is a lead through into your career doing burlesque because there is a real sense in the burlesque community, I would presume, that a few curves are welcome.
