How did you even, what was the kind of first steps? You just did the training and then you were like, okay, well, I'm going to go
2:41
for it.
2:42
Yeah, literally.
2:43
I look back now and I think, There was an element or a big element of having absolutely no idea what I was taking on, which meant there wasn't the level of fear that I sometimes feel now that I understand the market and I understand you know, the challenges of the work.
3:00
It was more like, oh, I'll give it a go and let's see.
3:02
It'll be fine.

And I think, you know, over the years, I've since discovered I'm autistic and have ADHD.

So tell us a little bit about how you got into bike racing in general and some of your background with racing bikes.
4:46
Yeah, of course.
4:48
So actually growing up, we did a little bit of cycling when my sister and I were super little, mum and dad would take us out.
4:55
But I used to hate it.
4:58
So I used to have a little seat on the back of dad's bike and it was a great time.
5:03
Like he would just, he'd go so fast on the trails and I'd just sit there and have a good time.
5:08
But then yeah, my sister, younger sister came along and um they bought me a bike and she got to sit in the seat and i was quite a lazy kid so then i had to pedal and i was struggling to keep up and she just you know smirked down at me like haha i gotta sit up here now so after that i never really enjoyed it um and then yeah when i was six i started inline speed skating So yeah, that was a huge thing in my hometown, Timaru.
