But so, I mean, what was a part, how did that, I guess, what was a part of your decision making process there? How did you think about that?

yes so that's a great question i saw coming into undergrad i didn't know that this existed but by the time of sort of taking classes and realizing i wanted to switch then i saw okay yeah there is a ton of people here this is a really great place to do astronomy yeah and so i had a sort of interesting path because the first time i applied to graduate schools i didn't get in anywhere and so i actually did it twice through the cycle so i ended up spending an extra year at the cfa doing research there.

So I definitely was well immersed in the environment.

So I went across the street, there's two buildings.

I went across the street and I worked with the folks that did radio astronomy for that year and then reapplied to graduate school.

And then it was on the second time that I applied, I was admitted and decided to stay.

And that was also a bit fortuitous too, because as a senior and undergraduate, the astronomy department often did these fun field trips in the summer leading up to your senior year.
