5:25
So Chappell Roan told Elton about how she finds ways to be positive in the face of so much negativity and divisiveness.
5:35
It is kind of disheartening sometimes to really go into the comment section, so I currently don't have social media on my phone, and I think that I just delete it when it becomes too much and keep it moving, to just keep doing the work, show up.
5:50
Because at the end of the day, no matter what anyone says about me online or in person, it's not gonna stop people like Elton and I donating money, donating time, writing about things that matter to us, saying, you know.
6:07
There is a lot of negativity, but there is so many people thatDo stand up for me and Elton.
6:15
I think that it's really, really hard as an artist right now in this day and age to try to separate social media and your job and being a good person because, like, it all is kind of wrapped up in numbers and comments.
6:30
So it's such a difficult world to navigate that personally, if I just delete it and keep it moving, I kind of make it out of that hurricane.
6:42
But that's hard for a lot of artists because if you really rely on social media to fuel, you know, your momentum, that, that can be really disheartening and kind of, you- it can feel very hopeless.
7:53
We're doing our message to make sure that their effort and their bravery is not forgotten.
50:42
I thought it was brilliant.
50:43
Thank you.
50:44
I would say, like, it's easy when it's true and when it's honest and it's real.
50:50
It's easy to make it part of everything you do because it's genuine.
50:58
And if I didn't feel so strongly, or I didn't identify [laughs] and I felt like I was kind of being an imposter, I don't know how I would be able to make it such a part of my project and my lifestyle.
51:14
I think that for me it's kind of impossible to not have it a part of my project.
51:20
It's become so apparent that one of the biggest priorities is, like, to make an impact because it- it just makes so much sense for me personally and, like, the whole Chappell Roan project.
52:57
It's the people that came before us that fought for our cause, that ended up by getting AIDS and dying or being killed in a nightclub or, or a hate crime, uh, we're doing our message to make sure that their effort and their bravery is not forgotten.
22:59
Right.
22:59
... and not, like, the art.
23:01
And so that's what hurts my feelings 'cause it's like, when my art even, you know, like with The Giver, you are 100% allowed to judge it, hate it, love it, rip it apart, critique it.
23:13
Like, that is the point.

51:17
Like, I think the fairies are your muse.
51:18
I usually, I would say yes, fairies visit me.
51:23
But I think like the way I write now is from like, I take things that are really fucked up and then make it really like...
51:32
I don't know, like it's the same with like The Subway.
13:08
(laughs)
13:08
... that's the vibe.
13:08
That's the vibes of that.
13:25
Call Her Daddy is brought to you by lululemon.
13:28
Here's the thing I have always gone back and forth with when I'm in the mood to work out and when I'm not.
13:33
And I feel like that's a very common experience, right? Sometimes we're feeling motivated, sometimes we're not.
13:38
But the more we move, the more we feel alive.

25 MINS LATER
