And I was like, "What the fuck is going on?" Right? And he, I think he thought I was asleep, 'cause it was like he was getting ready for work, and I worked later.
47:09
And so then I would just go in his laptop when he would leave, and I'd be like, "What the fuck was you looking at at 7:30, 8:00 this morning?" And it was just, like, YouTube videos of butts.

Chanel, what'd you have your first black teacher?
7:51
junior high he was so cute but i remember he um i think he taught like science or something and one day i left my violin in there and i had to go back and get it and he was like this is your violin i was like yeah and the way he looked at me i'll never forget because he was so proud you know what i mean he was like dang you're a cool kid and i was like yeah i gotta go man give me my give me my stuff i gotta go But I also want to say, and I hate to say this, but a lot of my education on Black history also came from who I dated.
8:26
I dated very militant guys sitting around the house reading Malcolm X out loud.
8:34
there were just periods in my life where i was like wow this guy's lighting a fire in me um probably not treating me as good as he should but but still really educating me a lot and i had moments especially when i was dating like in my you know my early 20s where i was like wow the dating him taught me so much more about uh being black in black history

But how have y'all seen black history deteriorate? being erased or negated um whether it's like you know back home or through relationships or things you just observed in the news like how are y'all seeing that happen lately
18:34
I mean, this is going to sound kind of surface, but I still think it really was shocking for me.
18:38
There was a period of time, like right after the pandemic, where TikTok dances were really a thing.
18:46
And so a lot of the late night hosts had some of the viral TikTok dancers on their shows.
2:19
Yeah.
2:20
I was carrying CDs.
2:20
Oof.
2:23
I'm doing a six disc CD changer.
2:26
I'm taking requests.
