Can a person lose their capacity to care? And can they get it back? And you've demonstrated that.

Yeah, I'd definitely say the answer is yes to that.

I'm someone that's trained my whole life to be capable of being violent and do jobs in special operations and being a professional fighter.

But anyway, if you spent a day with me personally, you would know that I'm a very, at the core, I'm a very kind person.

Gentle person.

I have a huge capacity to love and care for others.

I'm a very affectionate person.

What was your experience in this transformation?

How do you pray for them, and how can we pray?

Well, uh, you know, uh, it- it's one thing to pray for them, but we need to be praying for the leaders as well.

Regardless, and, and I think we know where most people in here would sit, uh, as far as, you know, conservative or, uh, values.

But we need, we need to be praying for our leaders 'cause when we send our, our young, our sons and daughters, I'm of age now, you are too, our sons and daughters off to serve in the military, we're entrusting them with our nation's leaders to make decisions that may not make sense in the beginning.

You look at something like Iran, like, I mean, even in this room right now, probably 50% of people would've been in support of what we're doing in Iran.

The other 50% would've b- would've not, because it was very confusing, unless you're in the trenches and understand how it works.

But we're-- but nonetheless, we're, as Americans, we trust our sons and daughters with our commander-in-chief and our, and our secretary.

Can you give us an update what's happening there? I, I doubt it's a great report.

Yeah, we played six holes one time.

So, yeah, so we're, we're in Afghanistan, like the height, height of the, the war, 2005.

And, uh, and, and a couple guys in my task force were there.

Just, just, like, three of us were out in the middle of nowhere.

Uh, Dave, Dave, who's a SEAL, and a guy named, uh, B- uh, Bink is his name.

You can call him.

He's a Puerto Rican guy.

Oh, so it's like a synthetic.

Yeah, the ends, the ends are empty

... yeah, the ends, yeah.

And but, but there has been seasons in my life where I ran from God in those hardships and now I'm, I'm in a season of my life, you talk about seasons, I'm in a season of my life where for the last 16 years when the hardship comes, I'm able to lean on my Creator and the brotherhoods that, that, that, the brotherhood that God's allowed me to be a part of a-and the truth of His Word that I, I didn't have before.

And so my response to those hardships has been much different in the back half of my life as far as the first half of my life.

But I grew up in a, a very dysfunctional home with a, you know, where not only like physical abuse was present but, but abandonment, uh, lost a, lost a sibling, lost a brother, uh, who was killed when I was 14 and he was 15.

Uh, and then lived alone from 15 years old without my, you know, a father or mother.

I lived with my older sister.

Mm.

But what do you think?

No, I, I...

But I think it goes back to what you were talking about with when you observed John's boys there.

It goes back to boyhood.

You know, when, um, when you rob, uh, young boys of their adolescence a- and ability to be boys and, uh, to do what they are wired to do, what God hardwired and created them to do, uh, man, you take that away from a boy and you're gonna have behavioral issues.

Call it ADHD, HD, whatever you wanna call it, and, and then you try to medicate it.

You can't conform someone to being outside of what God created them to be.

Mm

Right.

It's the consequences of sin.

And I think there's a lot of lesson in that, that you could have like a decision like I made, turn things around, build a beautiful ministry through restoration, help so many other people, but the damage is still there.

A- and there's grace and, and there's forgiveness we give that we can receive and we can give, but there's still damage.

And, and so I am still working on that every day with Kathy, even where we are today.

I, I love her.

I care about her, and I'm always gonna pour into her.

You can see the different things that you had to do.

Yeah, I mean, the Marine Corps is known for having the s- it s- it is the smallest branch and it has the smallest budget.

And they, you know, we have...

We believe inside the Marine Corps that we do the most with the least.

And actually, it's something...

The misery in that and the, uh, unfairness of that is actually something Marines take pride in.

Uh, that we could deploy anywhere around the world.

the same of that, uh, at Camp Pendleton on Saturday the 18th, sir?

Well, I mean, you know, movies are like, go really slow and then they go really fast.

So it was, been three years almost.
