For someone hearing about this for the first time, can you explain the idea of having different parts within us?

us?Yeah, and before I do that, I just wanna say how, I wanna normalize your experience.

Like, I, I think that what has happened unfortunately in our culture is that our culture really promotes this construct of mono-minded thinking, which means if we inside of ourselves believe one thing and also believe the polar opposite of that thing, so I wanna go to the party, I don't wanna go to the party, [laughs] um, on the one hand, on the other hand.

We see that across all cultures and all languages, and actually, the interesting thing is you are not either the w- your right hand or your left, you're the one watching them.

And I think that that's a really important component of understanding IFS.

But just more specifically, internal family systems is a, it's a model that was developed by Richard Sh- Schwartz that understands the human mind as really naturally, inherently multiple.
