Cathy, are, are the unions, a- as Pat put it, unfairly riding on the backs of teachers?
4:16
Hi there.
4:17
Uh, thanks for having me, Ciaran.
4:18
Um, as you mentioned, I'm in SIPTU's education sector, and SIPTU is one of a number of public sector unions that sits under the Irish Congress of the Trade Unions public sector group.
4:28
Uh, they're working together, um, and our members across the public sector just voted overwhelmingly in favor of taking this industrial action.
4:39
Um, I think that the other caller is, you know, uh, mistaken if he believes that our members don't care deeply.
4:47
So many of our members view their jobs as vocations, and that's why they give so much to the public service.

Can I ask, uh, Pat, Pat, before you come back, I, I'll come back to you in a moment, but Cathy, just 'cause you, you, since you brought it up, actually, can I ask about, say, other, other SIPTU members, whether working in public or private, say, on Wednesday, um, I, I mean, like, what, what, what, what, what, what, what's the advice to SIPTU members about, say, you know, crossing a picket? Pr- private sector workers working alongside people in the public sector, or even actually public sector workers, 'cause I know you posted about this, maybe scheduled to work from home or who might be tempted 'cause they automatically do to respond, say, in a teacher's case, to an email from a parent.
