Should we be freaking out about this? What do we do about that?
7:50
You know, it is a little scary because when you think of a... school critical systems going down, like that makes me think how can they react in emergency situations? Like what other systems do they have in place? But I would say other than, you know, those like very logistical concerns.
8:06
And I think in my school, they boosted like police presence and stuff like that.
8:10
At least when I went by, it seemed like there were more.
8:12
But, you know, I don't know if officially that was the case or it just felt that way when I went by.
8:18
But, you know, these ransomware attacks or cyber attacks on schools are very common.
8:24
They happen almost every day.
12:27
Like, what do parents need to know about this?
5:48
And, uh, I know you mentioned teens, but sh- what age group should parents start, e- either be pre-teen or adolescence? I mean, how young should they start nowadays?
6:00
As soon as your child gets a device in their hands, you can start having safety conversations.
6:05
I mean, TikTok is 13 plus, so that's why I focus on the teen aspect.
6:09
But you can...
6:10
Here's an example of maybe, like, something you do with a two or three-year-old, or a four-year-old.
6:14
You know, say they're watching a videoThe thumbnail shows, you know, a beach ball or shows a princess, and then they watch the video and the beach ball and the princess doesn't come out.
6:25
That is a very important lesson in not everything you see is going to be in the video, right? We can't trust everything we see.
7:04
What are some of the settings currently that parents should be looking out for or should have their children's, uh, computer settings set on right now?
3:13
And we've got to be able to stand together on this.
3:17
You know, I think I think you'd love my account because I talk about this stuff every single day.
3:22
But one way that you can block those kind of, you know, unauthorized access kind of situations is by doing a security checkup on your account.
3:31
So right now it's it's true.
3:33
It's Internet Safety Month, and this is really a good time to review our settings, right, and do the check-ins.
3:40
When it comes to all of our accounts, but specifically with TikTok, since that's what I was focusing on today, you can do a security checkup.
3:49
So what I've done for this month is I've launched the Safety Starter Pack for families.
8:19
And that's why we need people like you, Kathy, teaming up with TikTok to say, hey, look, we can all enjoy this moment It is our Beatles moment for this generation.
2:03
