What do you think is driving so many apprentices to leave before they qualify? Because, yeah, going back to that such large dropout, these staggering numbers, what do you think is that major reason for this happening?
4:26
Yeah, look, Casey, that reason really comes back to the culture and the behaviours in the industry and what we're offering.
4:31
So we've seen the share of women in construction fall over the last 20 years.
4:37
So back in 2006, we were sitting at about 17% overall.
4:41
We're currently nationally sitting at about 12.4% of women across the whole sector.
4:47
So that is a real sign that we're not retaining women and we're certainly not retaining the apprentices that we work so hard to attract.
4:54
When you look at why that is, when you already have apprentices and you already have people in the sector, they've obviously been attracted to the sector.

It's all right if you want to do X, Y and Z.
45:27
Mm.
45:27
Melding that together is, is where we really need to be.
45:31
And those organizations that, that do that are gonna stand a lot better on the workforce front as well.
45:36
So if we just look at, at Gen Z, for example, I'm sure you would work with a lot of Gen Zs.
45:41
So we know that, uh, obviously we've, uh, actually, um, the QBCC gave us some stats on this.
45:47
There's a huge number of, um, people, um, one third of, uh, building licensees in Queensland are due to retire.
45:55
They're over the age of, of 50, and they're due to retire in the next, say, decade.

Exactly.
