And in your experience, do you see these challenges manifesting themselves in different ways at different ages? And what should parents look out for as signs of something more than just like a readjustment period?

Right.

We definitely see this presenting differently across developmental stages.

So for much younger kiddos, like your lower elementary age kiddos, you might see some more externalizing behaviors.

There might be additional clinginess or some separation anxiety, some tears saying goodbye, maybe even some tantrums or regressions in sleep or eating patterns.

They might suddenly not want to go to school.

And as we know, for much younger kiddos, they might not have the language to share that.

And for the second part of the question, if school has already started, how can families best set themselves up for the rest of the year?

One of the organisers, Catherine McLean, and she's keen to hear from more people who can lend a hand on the day.

We've got quite a few volunteers already, but...

It'd be great to have a few more.

No experience necessary.

Just a bit of enthusiasm and a love of wildlife and lots of fun on the day because, you know, the children go around 10 stands.

Everything from pond dipping, bug hotel building.

And we have people from Two Birds Experiences and their native owls and birds of prey.
